UNBEATEN EASTER FOR THE REDS

Five Moturoa AFC senior sides hit the grass over easter and banked an unbeaten weekend for the club. COYR.

Saturday saw a busy day at Onuku Taipari Domain with 3 mens sides hosting sides from outside of New Plymouth.

The Western Autos sponsored Championship team remain unbeaten, picking up their second 2-2 draw of the season. They were 2-0 up but shared the points after a comeback from the visiting Kaitake side who pipped Moturoa for the league title in 2022. Joe Conley and Charlie Bennett scored for the second week in a row.

The Division 1 side picked up a valuble point in a 1-1 draw. For the second week in a row the side played another clubs top side and again were competitive in testing Waitara and on another day they could of sent the visitors home empty handed. Thomas Richardson nabbed his first goal for the REDS

The newly formed Division 3 side again faced a south Taranaki side and clung on to a 3-0 lead to take all the points in a 3-2 win.  Manager Neil Penno got the ball rolling before two 15 year olds in Jake Towning and Harry Bolton picked up their first senior goals.

Away from home TMT Moturoa Premiers faced a youthful Hawera side and a stiff wind to take a well earned 5-0 win and remain at the top of the table.  Losing the toss and playing into the wind the lads dug deep to take a 1 nil lead through a classy solo effort from Tyler Webber. Goals were shared about in the second half with Dean Wilson converting from the spot, Connor Hay floating one in with the wind, direct from a corner,  and Matt Gillies netted his first (of more to come) goals for his new club. An own goal from sustained pressure rounded out the score card.

Sunday saw just one of the women's side kitting up with a postponement in the premier league fixture vs Eltham.

The Federation women's side had the task of hosting last years competition runners up NP Rangers in the opening game of the league and did not dissapoint the BIG Sunday crowd when they took a 15th minute (Fernanda Toscani) lead.   They then applied more pressure and some slick build up play, resulting in some composed finishing from Chantal Williams adding 2 more before the break to see the REDS in control.  They would continue to dominate large portions of possesion and territory before adding another goal midway in the second half to win comfortably 4-0 and hand Fernanda Toscani her brace for the day. The side are wrapt with 3 points to kickstart their season ahead of a big away trip to Havelock North next weekend.

The club thanks all those who got out to cheer on your REDS. Fantastic support and the players really appreciate it.
